The year is 1983. I am 10 years old and a weird show/miniseries comes on TV about a bunch of lizard space aliens that lands on Earth and is later revealed to be farming humans for food.

It was the most awesome show ever . . . No wonder I can't write anything but horror. The most popular writer of my time childhood was Stephen King and V was on television every week! Lizard alien cannibalism! Half-human lizard alien babies! YEAH!!

Given how fondly I remember the original V, no remake could ever live up to the anticipation with which I used to watch the 1983 series. No villianess could match the evil of Diana. Now we have Anna, the peaceful beauty with the worst Rosemary's Baby Mia Farrow haircut I have ever seen. I don't care how beautiful you are, and Anna (Moreena Vaccarin) is very pretty, but hair that short makes you look like either: A. While you were asleep, your four year old kid cut your hair with a Flowbee and you had to use the electric razor and the manicure scissors to fix the mistakes or B. You had chemo and the hair has just begun to grow back.

Anyway, the acting for the new series is HORRIBLE, especially that of Elizabeth Mitchell who plays Erica Evans, an FBI agent who goes super-secret undercover as part of the rogue effort against the aliens called the 5th column. The Erica character is only convincing when she's playing mom to a teenage boy named Tyler who is in love with Anna's daughter. Otherwise, she is so smug you'd think she's hiding the Hope Diamond up her butt. It's the epic fail Nancy Travis school of acting. Please. Stop. Smirking.

All of the same plot lines are there from the 1983 series, therefore it is still a great show and fun to watch. But I think the old show had more style.
